Tirthan Valley

Tirthan Valley is a hidden treasure in the lands of Himachal Pradesh. Far away from the hustle bustle and an off-beat tourist location.It is an ideal place if you want to spend few days at leisure in nature’s lap, enjoy trekking, fishing and nature’s walk. Tirthan Valley is situated at an altitude of 1600 metres above sea level is the perfect getaway destination blessed with a wealth of nature’s tresures.

How To Reach:-

By Air:- The nearest airport to Tirthan Valley is Bhuntar, located at a distance of around 48 km from the location. Indian Airlines and Deccan Airways operate flights often to this region. Major nearest airport is Chandigarh Airport (IXC) – 134 kms from Tirthan Valley.

By Train:- The nearest railway stations to the location are Ambala and Kiratpur, both well connected with various other cities through the means of a rail network.

By Road:- Tirthan is located near Kullu. To reach Tirthan by road, you need to take the Chandigarh-Manali highway and turn off at Aut.From Aut, the riverside route is extremely picturesque and takes around 90 minutes. The best way to reach Tirthan Valley by road is drive yourself or hire a private vehicle.

Places To Visit:-

Great Himalayan National Park:- It is a place that will quench your thirst for amazing wildlife and fishingand it is one of the most beautiful place to trek in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Depending on the difficulty level, one has an option to choose from half day, full day, overnight or multiple day camping. Whatever you may opt for, this place does promise a wonderful experience and equally amazing trip.

Serloskar Lake:- Serloskar Lake, another major attraction of the village is located about 5 km from Jalori Pass. The lake has clear water.

Waterfall:- There are two main waterfalls easily reachable in the Tirthan valley. One is the Sairopa waterfall, called the Chhoie waterfall. It takes around 45 minutes to reach there on foot from the main road. The other one is located close to the village Jibhi. It is only a 10 minutes walk to reach.

Jalori Pass:- Jalori pass is a nice place to visit because it takes you from the low altitude riverside (1500 m) to higher levels (3200 m).The way to the pass is very scenic and goes through dense forest of Himalayan Cedar (Devdar) and Golden Oaks.  Perhaps one would recognize it better as the snow-covered summit in the Bollywood film “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, where actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are seen trekking through the mountainside. With scenic views of the snow-capped Himalayan landscape and the fresh mountain air to surround you, the hike through Jalori Pass has much to offer with exquisite flowers, birds and the environment for a surreal experience.

Jibhi:- It is just the right place to relax and spend some peaceful moments with your loved ones.The dense pine forests, tranquil freshwater lakes and pristine temples make this place worth visiting. The cozy Victorian style cottages in which you can stay are an added bonus that makes you feel as if you are living in the Victorian Period. So enjoy a cup of chai breathing in fresh air and listening to the sweet chirpings of the birds in the lap of nature.

Chehni Kothi:- It is a medieval watchtower, built for unknown reason a couple of century before. It is made of stone and wood, without concrete, and yet it has resisted the most powerful earthquake that happen in the Himalayas.

Best Time To Visit:-

Winter (November – February):- The winter season lasts till February.the region receives snowfall, and the mercury level drops further down to 1°C. December and January are the coldest months in the region. Tirthan Valley does transform into a winter paradise with misty lanes and snow-clad terrain, but the freezing temperature might make it inconvenient for tourists.

Spring (March – April):- Tirthan Valley transforms into a heavenly green paradise during the spring season which begins in March and ends in April.The temperature hovers between 8°C and 16°C, so the days are pleasantly cool while the nights are cold and chilly.

Summer (April – June):- summers is the best time to explore the region. Summers begin in March and last until July. The temperature ranges between 10°C to 25°C keeping the weather pleasant.This time around is also perfect for adventure buffs as there are several adventure activities including trekking, hiking, paragliding, camping, horse-riding, fishing, boating and zorbing
